Kindergarten Curriculum
The kindergarten program at Saint Benedict Catholic School focuses on language arts, literacy, math, religion, science, social studies, as well as enrichment classes. We accommodate various ranges in learning development that exist in young children. By the end of kindergarten children have the tools and skills for beginning and independent reading. Students are exposed to Spanish through literature, music, and culture.
Students celebrate and become familiar with the liturgical year. This includes celebration of the liturgical season (Advent, Christmas, Ordinary time, Lent, and Easter) as well as learning about saints and celebrating their feast days.
Some kindergarten highlights include cooking projects, monthly visits to the VMFA, walking field trips to local businesses, museums, and services (Bev’s, fire station, Architecture museum, Humphrey Calder Park) and field trips to Theatere IV performances and the pumpkin patch.
