Oktoberfest

The Annual Saint Benedict Oktoberfest will be held this year on September 19-20.  On Friday, the event will be open from 5:00pm-10:00pm.  On Saturday it will last from 11:00am-10:00pm.  The festival includes great food and drink, live music, exciting contests, and fun activities for the kids.  This year the proceeds from the event will be shared by Benedictine, St. Gertrude, and St. Benedict Catholic Schools to help students afford a Catholic education.  Many volunteers are needed for this exciting event, and if you cannot volunteer, please come and partake in the fun.  Visit their website http://www.stbenedictoktoberfest.com/ for more information.

90th Anniversary

Saint Benedict Parochial School has been serving the Richmond community since 1919.  As our 90th Anniversary approaches, we want to take the opportunity to celebrate the many years of academic excellence our school has experienced, preparing generations of young men and women of character in the Catholic tradition.  This school community should be proud of our many successes while continuing to look ahead and prepare for the demands of future generations.

One focus of our 90th Anniversary will be a coordinated campaign to raise funds for some long-needed improvements and upgrades to the school building.  To continue to set the bar for education in the city of Richmond, we want our facilities to match our commitment to academic excellence.  In order to make this a reality, we plan to begin with the following projects:

•1.                   Renovation of the front stairs to improve safety

•2.                   Installation of a state of the art computer lab

•3.                   Complete overhaul of the antiquated restroom facilities

•4.                   Renovation and upgrade of the multi-purpose room

In order to begin the work on these projects, our goal is to raise at least $250,000 in the next 17 months.  For a school with such a rich tradition and dedicated and generous alumni, we feel that this goal could be far surpassed.  I am happy to report that we have already received over $85,000 in pledges from families and friends who are excited about the future of Saint Benedict.

Saint Benedict Parochial School needs your help to continue our legacy of fidelity, virtue, and excellence for years to come.  We encourage every member of our school community to assist with our 90th Anniversary campaign in any way you can.  If you are interested in assisting with our campaign, please contact Tom Benedetti at tom@blueheroncap.com.  Thank you for your commitment to education!
