Gretchen Buis - Language Arts
Now that exams are behind us, this last week of school, at least from an English standpoint, is intended to be a relaxed week focusing on jumpstarting summer reading. The rising eights will be reading The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Animal Farm and the beginning of A Midsummer's Night Dream.. The rising sevens will be reading Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry. All of these will begin our year in September. Though there is no assigned written work for summer reading, classwork and writing assignments the first few weeks of school will be based on summer reading. If students wait until September to do the reading, catching up gets difficult for them. Most of all, please remember, book lists are just the beginning of summer reading. St. Benedict's book list and book lists from other schools become a great source of good summer reading book ideas. My thanks to all of you for this year. I hope you and your families have a wonderful, relaxing summer.
