C. I will meet with Mrs. E. and let you know if any small objects need to be sent in.

D. Our annual walk to 7-11 will be Friday, April 16 at 1:00, following recess. You are welcome to walk with us. We will use the money used during our money study to pay for the slurpees. If we have surplus change, I'll let you know.

E. Continue reading the Theme 7 words. I'll be sending home Theme 8 words next week.

F. We will be finishing up our time/money study this week. We are continuing in our measurement chapter and in chapters that focus on addition and subtraction through 18. If your child knows his/her doubles and doubles plus one facts, it will help with the other facts. Also, if he/she knows 10+2 =12, than 9+2 is 11, if 10+6=16, than 9+6 = 15 because you took away only one from the group. Another strategy is to make the double if 2 numbers you are adding are one number apart. Ex. 5+7=12 ( think 6 is between 5 and 7 and 6+6 =12.

G. We will be planting edible wheatberry grass this week using our reusable milk cartons to begin our study of recyclicling. Next week we will be going on a trash clean-up walk in honor of Earth Day! We will also plant some oak seedlings that have sprouted from acorn seeds.

H. We have a new guinea pig named Oreo! I'll be sending home a sign-up sheet for those interested in taking Oreo homefor the weekend.

I. The children followed directions well on the Terra Nova test. Thank you for helping them come prepared.

J. We will be checking out Reading Counts books this week. Please remind your child to get the book out of the backpack Wednesday night. Send me a note, if anyone leaves the books in his/her desk.

K. We will be creating a birdbath for our First Grade project for the Gala. Please send in any marbles, small mirrors, beads, or small shiny stones that you line fish tanks with, if you wish to. Thanks!
