Please continue to do the shapes, numeration, addition, and subtraction exercises on www.eduplace.com when you can.
On www.internet4classrooms.com, go to Grade Level Help or Assessment Assistance and click on !st Grade skill builders or language arts and mathematics. If you click on current standards, you will get lots of activities on a green and yellow background. The activities I am going to suggest here are found by not going to current standards, although they are in there somewhere. It might take you longer to find them. Feel free to use the activities in current standards if you have the time to browse the many choices.
So once you get to the section that reads skillbuilders, you'll see three sections highlighted in purple:1. Grammar 2. Phonics 3. Reading. Here are some suggested activities:
In Grammar, try any of the capitalization and punctuation activities. In the spelling section of grammar, try #1 Alien Scavenger Hunt: Letter Bugs, #5 Look, Cover, and Spell and #6 Spell Check
In the Phonics section, go to 2. Phonics Knowledge and try #9 Learn to Read Starfall Stories, #11 Match of Mystery, #21 Wild West, #23 Word Family Sort, and #24 Word Maker. Go to 4. Vowels and CVC words and try #5 Drag and Drop, #2 Chicken Stacks, #20 Make A Word, #21 Missing Sounds, and #22 On line stories which may be the Starfall stories.
In the Reading section, try any of the comprehension and main idea activities. For Sentence Structure, try #1,#5,#6,#8and and # 10. In the Sequencing section, all the activities are worth trying. Some of the activities are easy and some are harder, so try as many of them as you want over the next few weeks or more. Some games that I did not list required you to download plugin ,which I can't do from home, so you can try them too.
Please send in clean baby food jars and a pine cone or more if you have any near you. Thanks so much. Our Valentine Party will be on Monday, February 14 in the afternoon. I'll send home more details next week.

Thursday
1. Highlight digit in the tens place in 16 numbers on a sheet of paper. Cut into cards. Order the cards from the least to the greatest. Then mix them up in a pile and play War. You and your partner each draw a card. The one with the larger number keeps them. Of course, there will not be a war, because no two cards are the same, but the winner is the one who ends up with all the cards. You can also play that the person with the least amount keeps the cards. Keep the cards at home, but sign the form that you did the activities.
2. Read the Buried Treasure poem and answer the questions. You may need help with this assignment.
