Monica Menzies - Kindergarten

Over the next few weeks, our classroom reading theme will focus on colors. We will listen to stories about colors. We will be learning to recognize and write different color words. We will also be learning how to make secondary colors from primary colors.

This week we are focusing on the beginning sound for the letter S. Our Alphafriend is named "Sammy Seal". He will help us listen for the sound of sssss. We learned our very first sight word of the year which is "I". We will be writing rebus sentences using this word. We are also learning to read wordless stories. We continue to listen for and come up with rhyming words.

In math we have been learning about patterns. We have been looking for patterns, labeling patterns, and makind patterns. We are also counting our way to 100 days of school. We have been in for about 20 days so far.

In religion we have been talking about our Guardian Angels. We will be saying the Guardian Angel prayer every morning on the blacktop. We are also learning about Adam and Eve and the garden of Eden.

We have been learning about safety and how to stay safe. This week we began learning about fire safety in preparation for our field trip on October 19th. .

Homework should go home next Tuesday, October 12.
