Monica Menzies - Kindergarten

Our letter this week is Z (Zelda Zebra). Our sight word is "have".  We are working with short i word.  This week our word family is -ig.  We are reading stories about wheels.

We are working on the numbers 6-12. We are practicing using number patterns to see what number comes next. We are also reviewing ordinal numbers through 12.

We are using Resurrection eggs to retell the last week of Jesus' life. We are also learning about the Sorrowful mysteries of the Rosary.

We are talking about and looking for signs that Spring is almost here.

We are sounding out short i words. We are reading stories and learning about wheels.

We are sounding out short a words. This week we will focus on 

 "-ap" words (cap, gap, lap, map, sap, tap).

This wee we will be focusing on the sound of the letter Pp (Pippa Pig).Our sight word is “and”. We are also working on number words. We are reading stories and learning about numbers.We are learning about plane shapes.  

This week we will focus on the sound of hard c (Callie Cat). We continue to sound out short a words. Our sight word this week is "can". We are also reading books about friends and friendships. We are talking about how we can be good friends to each other.

 We are learning to graph and comparing sets using the words fewer and more than. We continue to count our way to 100 days of school.

We are learning about the people who were waiting for the Savior to come. We are lighting our Advent wreath and getting ready for Christmas.

This week of November 2nd-6th: 

Over the next few weeks, our classroom reading theme will focus on colors. We will listen to stories about colors. We will be learning to recognize and write different color words. We will also be learning how to make secondary colors from primary colors.

We will be visiting the Thompson Street Fire Station on Monday, October 19th. We will leave St. Benedict's around 9:30 and walk to Humphrey Calder to eat snack (weather permitting). Please pack a "disposible" snack that day (we will throw everything out at the park). We will then tour the fire house at 10:30. We should be back at school by 11:45.
