Service

In keeping with Saint James’ injunction to be “doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22), students both study and practice their faith daily.

The Eighth Grade, as leaders of the school community, are particularly responsible for practicing their faith and are therefore required to complete a minimum of 10 hours community service. All service projects must be approved by the Religion teacher in advance. Excellent projects include volunteering at Oktoberfest, working with the Little Sisters of the Poor, and helping to make lunches for those in need. The 10 service hours count towards 10% of the fourth quarter Religion grade, but students are encouraged to volunteer often and early.

Parents, as the primary teachers of their children, also provide an example by performing service to the school.  Specifics can be found on the PTO page.
