Virtus Training And Additional Requirements
Volunteers are an integral part of our school. All volunteers must complete the following three requirements to ensure a safe environment for our students:
- Attend a Virtus Training session: The Virtus sessions are offered on a regular basis at different times and locations throughout the Richmond Diocese. Sessions are free and last approximately 3 hours. Updates to the training are e-mailed to you to complete after the initial training.
- Complete a Screening One form and return to the Main Office prior to volunteering
- Read the Diocesan Safe Environment Policy and return the acknowledgement form to the Main Office
Additionally, if you plan to drive on a field trip, you must complete all of the above, as well as, the Volunteer Driver form (Volunteer Driver forms must be resubmitted annually) and watch the “Be Smart – Drive Safe” video at www.catholicmutual.org, login name 0092ric and password service. Select On-Line Training. Select Richmond. Create an account. Required Trainings – Defensive Driving Curriculum. Once you have completed the training you will be able to download and print the completion certificate. The Video is about 18 minutes. There is also a driver questionnaire. To pass you will need to not have been convicted of an infraction involving drugs or alcohol in the last three years, to not have been convicted of two or more infractions involving drugs or alcohol in the last seven years, and have no more than three moving violations or accidents in the last three years.
